CRATEFULL OF BASCHZ a.k.a. the BMX Boomboxxx

Cratefull Of Baschz is a musical installation by Baschz (Mañana, SingerSweatShop, TicToc, Betamaxxx) with, and playing the mixxxes of DJ Van Rippendael (Ghettoblaster Soundsystem, TicToc).

It was first realised in January 2009 as a one-time installation for Mañana's ECOÑO event in museum TENT as Baschz’ take on the documentary Made In Queens, in which kids in Queens (NY) have transformed their BMX bikes into bigass rolling soundsystems. It was then presented under the name DJ Møbel.

COB got such great reactions as well as several applications, so Baschz decided to team up with good friend, TicToc-colleague and deejay Van Rippendael to work on an all new sturdy and ridable 2.0 version, for which Van Rippendael also makes the bulk of the mixxxes being played from the COB speakers.
.
The installation uses milk crates and their alternate use (storage for records, spraycans, etc.) as visual interpretation for huge black speakers on Baschz's old BMX. It carries a soundsystem (operated on either battery or 220V) with different loudspeakers, lights and Baschz' personal belongings, all of which change around, matching the theme and feel of each event or venue it appears at.

COB can be found cruising through streets, over festival terrains and in exhibition spaces, playing one of the mixxxes by DJ Van Rippendael. For every ocassion a special mixxx can be made. Other changes or additions to the installation are always discussable.
